Robyn Helzner

Robyn HelznerRobyn Helzner is luminous on stage. A stunning vocalist and vivid storyteller – she radiates a passion for Jewish music that captivates listeners. Performing since she was eight years old, Robyn brings a life-long love and appreciation of the power of folk music to resonate across all cultural boundaries.

Robyn has a unique reputation for bringing World Jewish Music to uncommon locales:

“In 1987, I performed underground concerts for Jews and refuseniks in the Soviet Union. The following year, I was the only American artist invited to appear in the sold-out concert halls of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The historic concerts enabled the audiences to reclaim their Jewish identity.”

The Robyn Helzner TrioInspired by these events, Robyn formed the Robyn Helzner Trio. Two decades later, the group continues to transmit music that reaches into the hearts and souls of its listeners.

Robyn officiated at the first Bar Mitzvah in Beijing, China and has served congregations in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Robyn has released five recordings. A Fire Burns, Hearts Awaken, and Signs & Wonders, feature the Robyn Helzner Trio, and showcase the lively rhythms and evocative melodies that make up the vast Jewish cultural landscape. Her Clap Your Hands and I Live In The City recordings are beloved by children worldwide.

Robyn’s historic experiences in the Soviet Union were portrayed in the Public Television program, Chanukah—A Celebration of Freedom.
